Doctor couldn’t find a job

Posted by andrew on August 9th, 2005
A JUNIOR doctor who has been left nearly £50,000 in debt after putting herself through 10 years of study and training says she cannot now get a job - despite applying for 50.

Melissa Marlow, aged 30, of Ham Green, has applied for three jobs in Bristol and a total of 50 jobs across the country, but has so far been unsuccessful.

She is just one of thousands of Senior House Officers (SHOs) across the country who have found themselves in the position of incurring huge debt by funding themselves through medical school, only to find themselves unemployed at the middle stage of their training.

This is surprising. A doctor but couldn’t find a job? I always thought those who studied medicine will never be unemployed, judging from the low ratio of doctors to population. But this news is real. I don’t quite understand the reason. Is it because there are too many junior doctors already? Can someone read the article and explain to me? *confused*

looking at the way they party almost every night, I wonder if most of them really studied…probably that’s why!

Yeah, you’re right about the party part, boringest…. but then they can study hard and play hard. After all, they managed to graduate, didn’t they? This shows that they did well in their studies, but still couldn’t get a job.
