100Mbps broadband?

Posted by andrew on September 30th, 2005

100Mbps broadband? Not in Malaysia, I supposed…will take years for them to implement a speed like that. But Telewest UK claimed that they will roll out their 100Mbps broadband by the year 2007, which is less than 2 years from now. Still, broadband in the UK is considered very slow in comparison with other broadband providers of other countries, Japan especially.

In 2003, while BT was rolling out their 1Mbps broadband connection, the Japanese were already enjoying up to 26Mbps of ADSL broadband. And guess what? They paid much less.

Anyone knows the fastest broadband speed in Japan now? I bet it’ll put every country to shame…

Hmm, for me, a decent speed to surf will do. ;p

In the US, at least at my alma mater, Univ of Michigan, they already have 100 Mbps about a year or two ago.

SK, some people are difficult to feel satisfied…always ask for more…like me. :P

__earth, I think universities are different compared to home users. My university is rolling out 100Mbps this term too… What’s the speed like for home users in the States?

I wish .my roll out by 2008 :P

i heard too about U.S. having the speed of 100mbps quite some time ago…

I hope Malaysia would increase the broadband speed to match the ones by Singapore or offer us alternative broadband options like Powerline Braodband. This is one way increasing broadband penetrations.

I think Malaysians have to wait a lot longer(5-10 years?) because of TMN’s monopoly. Unless someone wants to start a new broadband provider company? Follow the footsteps of AirAsia to topple MAS… :)
