World Record for the Longest Kebab

The students from Multimedia University in Cyberjaya did it. The world’s longest barg kebab that was 2.016km long. But can someone tell me, do you feel proud of this “world class” achievement? The kebab was made up from 3.5 tonnnes of chicken meat worth RM24,000. Think of what RM24,000 could do to help the poor or to those in need of money for surgery.

A long feat: (Above) Students from the Multimedia University in Cyberjaya cheering upon hearing the announcement that they had broken the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest barg kebab by creating one that was 2.016km long. The last world record was set in Denmark for a barg kebab that was 1.5km long. More than 250 students (below) made the kebab which required 3.5 tonnes of chicken meat costing RM24,000.

As long as it’s spend to proud the “Malaysia” word, I think no one in Malaysia will object it… Haha… But honestly I found some of the records in Guiness Book of Word Record were a waste of time, energy and resources lor… People still tend to take it serious…

I think it’s pointless because anyone else can just break the record by making a 2.017km long kebab and we can kiss goodbye to the RM24000 world record.

2.017KM long?? like this proud meh…this is the stupid record..if you got the money, you also can break the record la…bodoh…My next world record..”WORLD Longest Kebab (From Cyberjaya to Penang Island)350KM long”..haha..350KM long..only cost rm 42million nia ma…so….i hope gov will sponsor my event ,coz sure will a lot of visitor that day..moreover, it VISIT MALAYSIA 2007…..MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!

As a Multimedia University undergrad, i personally dun feel that this is a record that i can be proud of but instead i felt so ashamed with it. This is now become a laugh stock to other ppl to think that why MMU has such stupidity idea of making such record. This is juz a record where anyone can do it as long as they willing to waste their money and time. I just felt so embarrass to continue study here.

I agree with Andrew,as long as we have the money and manpower, anyone also can break the record. However, MMU students may feel happy and proud for this achievement as they put in a lot of effort and worked hard together to make this kebab, now their hard work is paid.

to fuiping, u r wrong.. i m a mmu student.. i feel ashamed n not proud of it.. haha… longest kebab, (same as coin chain record in melaka last year) record… i m thinking bout they are wasting the food and time on doing smt, which they may get their name being written in some books, but i wonder y they dun take to time n opportunity to concern bout the society.

wat i wan to emphasize here is not ALL MMU students are proud of this.And i m one of them.All the records that Malaysia can break is just the ’so called’ tallest, biggest, longest things. what’s the point?there is nothing showing their determination of doing something which is more meaningful.what a shame on malaysian!!

ANdrew : Your blog add is being forwarded thru Y!m in MMU.

To the rest: The Meat was sold to students and it wasn’t a RM 24,000 waste. The company that sponsored us was getting good publicity. As a student, it wasn’t just the record, it was about team work & dedication. If indeed it is so easy to break records, why not try it ? It is always easier said then done.

By the way, I do agree that there is a lot of team work and dedication being put in to make the kebab but surely there are many other beneficial activities other than breaking kebab record that involved team work and dedication too?

I also knew this website thru my fren at MMU.Last year INTI college also smashed the Guinness World Record by 21 students who crammed into a Mini.It was really amazing!Unike making the longest kebab,not all people can do it.

fuiping, not everyone can break the Mini squeezy record…but then again, what does it really prove? That mini is a great car or INTI students are very flexible?

I guess some world records are just pointless.

lol… yup, it is time to wake up, but i have insomnia so its really difficult to sleep at night, usually i stay up for 24 or 48+ hours… i hate it =/
