World Record for the Longest Kebab

The students from Multimedia University in Cyberjaya did it. The world’s longest barg kebab that was 2.016km long. But can someone tell me, do you feel proud of this “world class” achievement? The kebab was made up from 3.5 tonnnes of chicken meat worth RM24,000. Think of what RM24,000 could do to help the poor or to those in need of money for surgery.

A long feat: (Above) Students from the Multimedia University in Cyberjaya cheering upon hearing the announcement that they had broken the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s longest barg kebab by creating one that was 2.016km long. The last world record was set in Denmark for a barg kebab that was 1.5km long. More than 250 students (below) made the kebab which required 3.5 tonnes of chicken meat costing RM24,000.

21-year old PhD Holder – From Malaysia

While most of the 21-year olds are complaining about how tough life is in university, struggling with diploma or degree studies etc; this guy here has already completed his PhD, at the age of 21!

MELBOURNE, March 7 (Bernama) — A researcher who investigated the mathematics of DNA entanglement has become the youngest student on record to graduate with a PhD from the University of Melbourne.

Chan Yao-ban, 21, will graduate with a PhD in Mathematics and Statistics tomorrow night.

He is the youngest student to be conferred a PhD since the University of Melbourne began awarding that qualification in 1948.

I just got my first free contact lenses two days ago from Soflens. It’s not too bad, but quite a hassle to put it on and slightly uncomfortable. Maybe this is because it’s my first time wearing a contact lense.

Not sure whether you will be charged for the service, I have no comments as I didn’t try Acuvue before. Let me know for those of you who had participated in their free trial packs offer.

Haze in Malaysia

I took a look at the condition outside of my house, and to my horror, the haze was really really bad. I mean, really serious type of bad. This haze is the worse than the one Malaysia had few years ago due to the same reason, forest burning in Indonesia. But I’m wondering why, the media aren’t reporting the haze situation like the way they did few years ago, and there aren’t any steps taken by the government (like declaring emergency school holidays, etc) at all. Are they putting our lives at risk just to save our country’s income from tourism?

Below are some excerpts of news reports about the haze:

Forest fires in Indonesia’s Sumatra province covered Malaysia’s main city Kuala Lumpur and 32 other towns Tuesday with a smoky haze that reduced visibility to as low as one kilometer (half a mile).

The Department of Environment said air quality in an area in central Perak state was “unhealthy,” and it downgraded air quality in 32 other areas nationwide, including Kuala Lumpur, from “good” to “moderate.”

Kept in the dark

But newspapers have been bombarded by angry telephone calls from the public, complaining that information is simply not available.

For more than a year it has been official policy in Malaysia not to make public the air pollution readings, for fear of driving away foreign tourists.

Ugly Malaysian 1

Today, I added this new section to my blog of amusing stuff. Yes, it’s a category for ugly people. Ugly in this context, does not mean “not good looking”, it means people with bad attitude and do stupid stuffs.

To start off this segment, today I met 3 ugly buggers in Malaysia. They were supposed to clean the air-conds of the house next door, but instead, they ~~flirted~~ threw stones and splashed water to my dog. Below are the photos of them, not too clear though(click image to enlarge).

Two of the buggers but they didn’t look like they were the one who threw the stones.

I think this was the person who threw the stone to my dog. He stared at me when I was standing outside with my dog.

Make sure you don’t pay them to clean your air-cond. Bloody nuisance.

Malaysian Ringgit and China Yuan Unpegged

China has abandoned its currency’s peg to the dollar and revalued the yuan by 2.2%. It now buys more US dollars than before.

With China both one of the world’s largest exporters of manufactured goods and one of the largest importers of raw materials, the move’s economic impact will be felt worldwide.

On the other hand, Malaysian Ringgit was unpegged against US dollar as well. It does sound coincident with the unpegging of China Yuan.

Bank Negara Malaysia announces today that the exchange rate of the ringgit with immediate effect will be allowed to operate in a managed float, with its value being determined by economic fundamentals. Bank Negara Malaysia will monitor the exchange rate against a currency basket to ensure that the exchange rate remains close to its fair value. Promoting stability of the exchange rate continues to be a primary objective of policy.
