Visiting the UK?

Posted by andrew on August 7th, 2007

Planning to visit the UK? If you have such plan, then finding an affordable accommodation for your stay here in the UK might be quite a problem. The cheapest option is to stay in a hostel, but many people are not keen on the idea of sharing dorm rooms with 2-8 people. Furthermore, you get problems like snoring room-mates and ended up not having a good night sleep.

Hence, a cheap and affordable hotel is probably the next best option. However, it’s not easy to find cheap hotels in places like London or Manchester. Hence, you would need hotel comparison website like CheaperThanHotels.co.uk to look for cheap hotels in London. I just took a quick look at some of the hotels and the 1 and 2 stars hotels are quite affordable considering the fact that they are mostly located in central London. If you are looking to visit not-so-central places like Greenwich, they also have plenty of Greenwich accommodation for you to choose from.

They do have cheap hotels listed on their website apart from those in London. For example, if you are going to visit Manchester (to watch Man Utd football match, perhaps?), then you might want to check out the cheap hotels in Manchester listed on their website as well. Bear in mind, it’s always cheaper to book hotels earlier (at least a few weeks in advance)and to shop around online for other cheaper hotels.

AShop eCommerce Software

Posted by andrew on August 1st, 2007

eBay gained so much success and has carved a path for online businesses to boom. Nowadays, it isn’t surprising to find better deals from shopping online as compared to buying in person. In the UK, you can even buy groceries online and have it delivered to you in person. Sounds pretty convenient, eh?

Well, now with so many blogs mushrooming and expanding so wildly these days, some bloggers are also trying to sell some of their unwanted products on their blogs. Ashop shopping cart software might come useful in this case. Even the online digital photo frame shop I blogged about previously is using this software for their shopping cart. It’s not a bad idea to start your very own small shop to sell your stuff, don’t you think so? As for online merchants, you might want to have a secure and proven shopping cart software for selling your products online.

I have not used this piece of ecommerce software yet, but after trying their demo on their website, I think it’s pretty simple and easy to use. So give the demo a try and if you want to take it further, they even offer 10-day free trial (without the need of credit card) for you to test it out on your site.

Digital Photo Frame

Posted by andrew on August 1st, 2007

To be honest, when I saw this product I was amazed. I didn’t realise that technology has moved so fast and after not keeping in touch with the technology world (heck, I’m still using a 2G phone when everyone is using 3G or smartphone these days). Felt a bit left behind, after all I was a tech addict.

Anyway, this product I’m talking about is a digital photo frame. Remember the old type of photo frame, where you have to insert one printed photo at a time and after a few years, everything starts to turn yellow? Now with this digital photo frame, all you have to do is insert a memory card into the frame and it will display the photos you like. No need to worry about photo yellowing anymore (although you will still have to take some effort to keep it dust-free).

One place where you can get such product is from Digitalframez.com. It is an online store specializing in LCD digital photo frames. I haven’t used their services or bought anything from them before, but they seemed to a good selection of digital photo frames there. The products are priced in £, so I would assume that this is a UK company but they do ship internationally as well. So have a look around their site and see if you would like to buy a digital frame from them.

Smorty - Get Paid to Blog

Posted by andrew on August 1st, 2007

What is Smorty? Probably some of you might have heard of this company. It is another get paid to blog service that connects advertisers with bloggers. Basically, advertisers can join this program and create campaigns or opportunities for bloggers to write about their services or products. Then, the bloggers will get paid for blogging about their opinion according to the requirements outlined by the advertisers. Submit your post and the article will be subjected to approval by Smorty admin. As simple as that.

For bloggers who wish to sign up, a PayPal account is required to receive payment. As far as I can see from their signup form, anyone from most countries in the world can join this program. Bloggers will get paid weekly for their approved written article, which is good as you don’t have to wait too long for the money to arrive in your PayPal.

As this company is still new, there might be very few campaigns for you to choose from but give it a try. After all, every little helps, right?
